BOOKMART Procedures Update
Flyers- Recently, it has become apparent that
many customers have never been offered a copy of our Bookmart flyer which
has our opening times
and other useful Club information. As this is our main promotional
document, it is essential that every customer is provided with one. You
will find
that they are most grateful. If they say that they already have one,
then that is good as we are doing our job!
Road signs- There seems to be confusion over the placement of these,
as they are often hidden from view by trees or parked cars. The one on
the western side of Portrush Road needs to be just South of the street
trees and on the grass verge. The wheeled one is best placed attached
to the round silver metal pole just north of the fire station exit which
is the pole for the traffic stop lights. The monkey hooks can be stretched
around the pole twice and hooked back to each other, thus preventing it
from coming loose. In this position, it is in full view as cars are not
able to park in front of it. The other sign on the south-eastern corner
nearest the Bookmart, should be just on the edge of the grass and footpath
in a visible position but not obstructing the footpath for safety reasons.
Security- It is always a good
idea to have the padlock on the cash box at all times. Whilst you are
at the desk it is easy to have it just hooked
over to appear locked and should you be called away, it is very simple
to push the lock closed. In today’s community there are some people
who are desperate and will observe over a period of time our movements
before making a move. We all have to be alert as the last thing we
want is for a member or volunteer to be threatened or hurt..
